What are “Green” Products?
Green products and services can most simply be defined as those that are less damaging for the environment and health of the planet than previously available or competing products used for the same or similar purpose.
They may also be represented by products which are produced using methods or a process which saves resource or represents a reduction in environment impact in comparison to a competitive or previously available product.
Highly efficient green products and technologies will deliver a combination of both of these outcomes.
We categorise green products into the following areas:
- Recycled content
- Greenhouse friendly
- Water & natural resource saving
- Energy efficient
- Low-toxicity & chemical free
- Fuel efficient
- Organic, biodynamic, ecorganic
“Green” Products Methodology
Businesses that genuinely respond to the challenges of sustainable commerce by developing products, services and processes that respect and reduce impact on the environment are rapidly gaining momentum. With increasing demand and uptake from a more informed community that appreciates their contribution they will continue to thrive.
Products, services and technologies on display at GOING GREEN EXPO will be required to demonstrate the validity of their commitments. They may carry a range of existing environmentally responsible product and service labelling and “green” program accreditations the event will recognise for inclusion. Or have provided evidence of environmental efficiency, policy in manufacture procedures, compliance with ISO 14001 standards or demonstrate pioneering environmental practises in order to participate.
Green Product Labelling Programs in Australia:
Please Note:
Many Australian small local product and service providers who are yet to achieve an eco-labelling status, thus far, often as a result of affordability or new market entrant status remain some of the most integral environmentally responsible product and solution providers available.
There are numerous examples of products being distributed in industry sectors here in Australia which, despite their lack of label accreditation or attainment are exemplary in their standards of environmental performance, efficiency & responsibility. many compare favourably to other market suppliers who have achieved some process of accreditation. Without deminishing eco-label credibility it should be noted that they are not a definitive accreditation of environmental performance and at this stage no scaleability has been incorporated as to the level of efficiency attained.
